Paving the Way: the 4GB iPod Nano

Pencil thin and smaller than your mouse, the 4GB iPod Nano is clearly one of the new wonders of the world! It is similar to your regular iPod, only in a much smaller design and with memory that can hold up to about 1000 songs and 25,000 photos with a vibrant LCD display to make searching for anything you require a much more dazzling experience.

Apple had such faith in their new offering, the 4Gb iPod Nano, that they replaced their entire line of iPod Minis with it.

The 4GB iPod Nano can also hold your podcasts and audio books.

You can add accessories to your 4GB iPod Nano via the dock connector and headphone jack, just like with other nanos, but with 4GB your musical experience will seem that much longer – it’s like taking your entire music collection with you while you go for a jog, in fact you could probably store your whole music collection.  And with that much music on such a slim machine you would obviously need longer battery life: well it has that too.

Features of the 4Gb iPod Nano

The feature list is long and impressive:

  • completely skip-free playback
  • a bright 1.5 inch color LCD display
  • charges via USB
  • accessory compatible dock connector
  • syncs contacts, calendars and to-do lists
  • Apple click wheel
  • up to 14 hours of battery life
  • and only 1.5 ounces in weight

The 4GB iPod Nano also comes with four games: brick, parachute, solitaire and music quiz.  Unfortunately Apple have not included an FM tuner or a voice recorder into their 4GB ipod nano which is a bit disappointing, though if consumers continue to voice this disappointment then the next generation of nanos might be blessed with them.

The casing of the Nano is also very smooth and shiny with no extruding parts, which gives it great visual appeal, and also enables more comfortable usage and control over it.

The sleek design is ultimately its greatest appeal: being able to drop it in a pocket for future listening or viewing pleasure; you won't even know it is there, and the facts that something so small can contain so much memory is an amazing accomplishment.

Who knows what the next batch of Nanos will contain when the 4GB iPod Nano is such a technological wonder!
